The KCCA New Year Celebration Review

On February 9, 2013, Chinese New Year's Eve, hundreds of people gathered together at the Indian Creek Community Church in Olathe to celebrate the ringing in of the year of the snake. The celebration started with a dinner buffet in the activity center. Three hundred friends of KCCA joined us. Olathe Mayor Michael Copeland made his appearance to the dinner and delivered a short speech to the crowed.

After dinner, people enjoyed the booths activities provided by ZTE, Hendrick Volvo of KC, Schmitt Music, BAOS insurance, NEW York Life insurance and Culture Essential.

The celebration gala started right at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. More than 800 people enjoyed the wonderful culture performances.

Top highlights included Kansas State Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer making the new year greetings to the audience and Tianqi Ma being awarded the "KCCA 2012 Person of the Year" by the President of KCCA, Mr. Chunming Ma. That prize was sponsored by Mr. Benny Lee. The director of ZTE USA Brad Li also drew special lucky prizes from the raffle tickets.

There were several noteworthy performances put on by the Drum Roller, Min Yi Guzheng school, Yifan Wang, Jasmine Chinese Dance Group, Silk Road Dance Academy, Na Liu Fashion Show, Jazz and Bullet Dance from Legacy School of Arts, Zhang Xiaoming Music Team, Loudenitch Academy of Music & Arts, and Xiang Chen showcased traditional Chinese culture as well as modern arts. The gala was concluded by the closing song - "Unforgettable Night" - sung by all the performers. All the kids gathered on the stage to get red envelopes as their new year gifts at that time. It was a great conclusion to a wonderful night.
